IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific Bankers' Boardroom 2012
    What’s Different in 2012?
    Roundtable
    September 12, 2012
    Manila, Philippines
    Introduction

    IDC Financial Insights Banking Roundtable

The Financial Insights Bankers’ Boardroom Roundtable is organized as a high-level peer discussion for senior practitioners in various cities in Asia. The Roundtable series has allowed us to create a thought-leadership community comprised of senior practitioners who can elaborate on the key business, risk, operational and technology issues they are facing, in the process validating our opinions on the issues affecting the market. Our Roundtables are also designed to disseminate evolving regional and global best practices relevant to local financial institutions.

    What’s Different in 2012?

In this year's Roundtables, we will talk about the all-important issue of innovation and the future of Asia/Pacific (APAC) Financial services.

The onset of 2012 has brought along very impressive innovations in mobility, social media, Big Data, analytics, and customer relationship management that the industry really has to pause and take stock of what these innovations really mean. What significant changes will there be to banking as we know it? Will we see the emergence of non-bank players that can compete head-to-head with traditional banking institutions? Are there other game-changing innovations outside of channels – for example, in risk management, or operations?

On the business side, 2012 has brought its own set of fresh challenges and issues to banks in the APAC region. The new market dynamics that are emerging can be daunting – new business models, new market participants, altered rates of growth and market potentials, and increasingly stringent regulation. The bottomline is that CXOs in 2012 will have to decipher the unique, APAC-specific problems of the times. The winning institutions will be those that are led by executives who "get" the new and current issues, and embrace the twin challenges of disruption and innovation that confront them.

In this year's Roundtable Series, participants will leave with a better understanding of these three questions:

    • What are the major technology-based innovations that can change the way my bank works and more importantly, change the way it deals with its customers?
    • Are there opportunities that are unique to the Asian region, and unique to the 2012 environment that will allow my bank to thrive despite global disruptions?
    • What are my peers doing in 2012 – what unique strategies do they do for innovation and how do they see the future of APAC banking?

What makes our Roundtables unique, and different from a conference?

We will continue the tradition of thought-provoking dialog between banking institutions and industry service providers, ably backed by on-the-ground research from IDC Financial Insights analysts.

    The Format

The Roundtable is designed to be an attendee-led forum, facilitated by lead analysts from IDC Financial Insights.

    • You will help form a collective view of experienced banking practitioners regarding innovation and the unique issues that banks face in 2012,
    • You, the industry practitioner, will provide the inputs and discussion points which will dictate the direction of the discussion,
    • Get a view of regional and global innovations worth looking out for, and
    • Get a clear and unbiased perspective on the value propositions offered by various vendors and service providers – moderated, assessed and verified by IDC Financial Insights research.

The format and features of the roundtable are as follows:

    • Complimentary and exclusively by-invitation only for banking practitioners
    • Closed-door sessions that cover high-level issues faced by decision-makers
    • Number of attendees is limited to 15 senior executives, providing an optimum interaction with the participants
    • The agenda is set based on your inputs, prior to the event so as to engender a strong sense of ownership and interest from all attendees
    • An informal setting to encourage candid discussions and facilitate business opportunities
    • Research-based findings and discussions from senior research analysts of IDC Financial Insights

    Seating and Limitations

In order to facilitate in-depth discussions, the total number of delegates at the roundtable will be limited to a maximum of 15. Seats will be available on a first-come first-served basis. The seating arrangement will be in boardroom style to facilitate interaction.
