Even as the global economy continues to go through periods of uncertainty, Cloud vendors´ revenue growth clearly outperformed traditional on-premise providers. Buyers appreciate the low up-front costs, no major investment in infrastructure or personnel, quicker time to use, and lower costs of ownership. ISVs, too, can clearly see the growth rates of Cloud solution providers outstripping on-premise offerings.

This presentation will focus on the findings from IDC´s recent APeJ (Asia/Pacific excluding Japan) cloud end-user survey and discussions with regional CIOs to map out the expected development path of cloud services over the next three years. We find that the shift to the Cloud, initially experimental, subsequently at the margins, has now moved solidly into the mainstream, where “better, faster, cheaper” has governed the decision to use Cloud resources. However, the geographic reach and support for mobility of Cloud solutions, as well as Cloud-to-Cloud synergies, has increasingly demonstrated the transformational value of Cloud IT, and more strategic acquisition plans are now commonplace, if not mainstream practice. The Cloud transformation will continue to impact the IT buying process and the way IT handles technology implementation.
